Participation in the Regional Typologies Workshop on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing related to Cybercrime in GIABA Member States

From 20 to 22 September, the workshop on the links between money laundering, terrorist financing and cybercrime was held in Abidjan under the aegis of GIABA. OCWAR-M participated in this workshop alongside the OCWAR-C project, the West African response to Cybercrime, also implemented by Expertise France and funded by the European Union.

The presentations made by each Member State on the situation in terms of legal framework, statistical scope of cybercrime offences and challenges to be met with regard to available means allowed the OCWAR-M and OCWAR-C projects to consider joint activities in partner countries, mixing cybercrime expertise with anti-money laundering expertise, especially in view of the existing risk of money laundering through cybercrime.
